Eldorado 60,634 #1 Posted June 23, 2020 "Interactive maps described as a "scientific benchmark" have revealed the vast continent beneath New Zealand as it's never been seen before. "While scientists have known about it for decades, it's only been in recent years that Zealandia has been publicly recognised as the planet's youngest, smallest, thinnest and most submerged continent. "At one relatively brief point in the Earth's history, its sprawling mass once stood above the waves, dispersing animals and plants from here to New Caledonia and the east of Australia." Jon the frog 2,562 #4 Posted June 28, 2020 (edited) Lost world below the sea and if you look forward, when you think about all the crust surface sinking slowly at subduction zones below the crust and melting... and new resource going up elsewhere and forming new crust. It's so amazing ! It's also a bit sad that we cannot live long enough to see the slow process take place ! Edited June 28, 2020 by Jon the frog
