Parents face fines if children not in school

Recommended Posts

Still Waters

Parents have been warned they could be fined if they do not send their children back to school in September.

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said the planned return of all pupils in England will be "compulsory".

He added that parents could be fined unless there is a "good reason" for their child's absence.

Its time for the state to take back control and govern. a process they've made harder on themselves by kowtowing in recent events.

To the best of my knowledge its unenforceable. Common Law of the UK is the Age of Consent, forcing kids to work is a breach of that, after that age the Government can only force you to work if conscription papers are served on you.

Basically a bunny in the field (catholic metaphor for kids) shouldn't be forced into anything they don't wish to be a participant in, that is a common law offence. The Government write Criminal Law, in that they are criminals from Common Law, that last to know and understand normal human values in many cases.

Common Law is not written down for the benefit of the criminals.

What about parents who chose to homeschool their children during the lockdown? Don't they get a say?

Well, they can choose to continue home schooling if they go through the usual official process.

In reality, this won't be enforced in many schools. Fines can only be issued for absences without a reasonable justification. The reasonableness of that justification is decided by the headteacher, not the government.
