Attorney General Barr -- don't Pardon Stone

Well President trump pardoned his associate Rodger Stone, but the question that should be posed is why did he feel it was necessary to do this against the recommendations of the Attorney General of the United States. Rodger Stone, a former campaign aide, was convicted of lying to Congress, Obstruction of Justus, and Witness tampering and while he was pardoned for his crimes he still remains a convicted Felon. This pardon came days before this Republican Operative would start his sentence of 40 months in prison. When stone was convicted the Attorney General said that Stones prosecution was righteous and the sentence was very fair considering the serious nature of the crimes he committed. Many Democrat's and even Republicans feel that the President has made a serious mistake granting Rodger Stone a pardon, so why with his closest confidants disagreeing with him on this decision?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/attorney-general-barr-told-trump-he-shouldn-t-grant-roger-stone-clemency/ar-BB16CzlJ?ocid=spartan-ntp-feeds

There is no doubt that President Trump thinks he is above the law, but I think this decision is going to be a bridge to far. I believe this decision will cause an investigation into President trump for his actions today, and with all the voices that are speaking out against this decision, the question is now what did Rodger Stone have on President Trump that made the President make this decision. The best evidence of this has come from Rodger Stone himself when he said publicly that he would never roll over on President Trump, this statement is very clear. It states that Rodger Stone has information that could have jeopardized President Trumps Presidency, and as the weeks go by this pardon is going to be a major thorn in President Trumps side as we near the Presidential Election in November.

This decision also go's against the frame work of the Constitution, because it violates what our founding fathers intended when they gave the President the power to pardon people he felt were treated unfairly. However, according to what the founding fathers outlined this power was not designed to be used in cases where the President was personally under investigation himself for the crimes that the person being pardoned was also involved in. Below is a link that explains this is much greater detail that I am able too:

It should perhaps be pointed out that Trump hasn't pardoned Stone. He has instead commuted the sentence - Stone still has the conviction recorded against him.

and then

Those from the Obama administration that used government power to go after political opposition should be tried, and once the evidence is made public they should be publicly shot.  What they did was a COUP.  It is still underway and if none of them are held accountable, our nation is effectively dead.  Just remember, no one side is ever going to rule over the other in peace.  THAT isn't going to happen.  We will remain a nation of laws that are obeyed by all or we will not remain at all.

'and then', can you explain to us why Trump and his DoJ hasn't / isn't investigating whatever it is that you are claiming?  I note that whenever this 'coup' is referred to, it is always merely handwaved.  Never any details.  So what, specifically, was the illegal stuff they did, and why hasn't Trump / Barr taken it up?

Here's my rather obvious suggestions to the answer to that very puzzling question:

1. They didn't do anything illegal. (If you dispute that, give full details)

2. They are completely and utterly incompetent, even though they now own the DoJ.

3. They are waiting until .. er.. until after .. er... _________________________________________ (..you fill in the blank)

Feel free to add in any I've missed..  I like to keep an open mind.

As was mentioned previously, Roger Stone was not pardoned.

Sorta makes all that stuff you wrote rather pointless, doesn't it?

he probably commuted the sentence because a full pardon would have freed Stone to do whatever he wanted. By holding back  a full pardon Trump still maintains control over the little traitor.  the other possibility is a full pardon means Stone would be completely free to testify without fear of jeopardy, meaning he could not invoke the 5th before a grand jury or court about the issues resulting in his conviction. I am not sure a commutation gives him that immunity. So a full pardon means he could not refuse to testify.  Stone said he has dirt on Trump but he stayed loyal. Clearly that doesn't mean loyal to his country just his crime boss.  So the story continues.  Once we have a real President and Attorney General again, we can hold these slimy piles of excrement like Stone, Trump, Pence, Flynn, Barr, accountable.

Like how the police obey the “don’t murder people” law?

You seem pretty angry.  I see a lot of that from lefties scared to death their socialist dreams are slipping away.

Wait until the (honest) investigation of the Obama abomination is finished.  That's when you'll really be gnawing your own fist.

Your right  he did commute Stones sentence, but the question still remains, what does Rodger Stone have on President trump that made him even do that. Stone is guilty as charged, even Barr the Presidents strongest supporter doesnt agree that Stone shouldn't serve his sentence.

Your comments are again far out to say the least, you people and Obama and all the Conspiracy Theories you promote, if it wasn't so sad, it would be funny.

He can't do anything you asked here, because it is a Conspiracy Theory and nothing more. If Andthen or any other Trump supporter had the smallest details or proof they could use to back up their Ludacris comments they would use that information to back up their fantastic claims. But they have nothing, so they clutch their Conspiracy Theories like some sick badge of honor which allows them to keep faith with their Leader, and they do this because it is all they have to hold on too.

Not necessarily anything.

The president can sign a get out of jail card and it works easy as that.

There are no end the coronavirus cards or get the economy going cards, and this is just another distraction.

It should perhaps be pointed out that lefties don't have a monopoly on anger.

Unless I'm seriously mistaken, the poster who posted these comments isn't a lefty:

- these scum

- our spittle-flecked Scot

- will YOU have the courage to do more than spit hate

-one who is insane with hate

- if this writer had been crafting hateful messages for CNN, he'd have just gotten promotions

- he sounds like a tool

- partisan war dogs and are gleeful about it

- they aren't as wild-eyed as you

- Your doc should prescribe you something for all that impotent rage

- the Democrats in Congress are led by an insanely hateful BEE-otch

- this nation is going to burn

No it makes nothing pointless, Stone is still guilty of 7 felony  charges, Barr doesnt agree with Trumps decision, and Stone has made the comment that what he has done was done to protect the President from being charged in crimes which he has committed. So, no this isn't over, it has only begun and this single act could be the act that changes public opinion when the President is exposed for his involvement. No matter what you think or say, this isn't close to being pointless his actions could very well be the spark that burns his Administration to the ground.

You are quite correct...and I didn't mean to infer that.

Many people on the right are angry at what they see is being done to the country in the name of liberalism and social justice.

I see the country being purposefully divided by malevolent forces that seek to make everyone angry and at each other's throats.

Understanding that is key to knowing how to conduct one's self.

I think these folks actually did vote for Trump in 2016...and then changed their minds after that.

At least, that's what the video seems to claim.

Not that it matters...the Left doesn't have a monopoly on idiots either.  They just seem to attract the worst of them.

Well, one of those malevolent forces is undoubtedly Vladimir Putin. Another is undoubtedly Xi Jinping.

My experience is that when interacting with people I disagree with, politeness goes a long way. ETA: After all, speaking as a centrist, I find myself agreeing with people on one thread and disagreeing with them on another. It's hard to sound genuine in agreeing with someone when you've just unleashed a spittle-flecked personal attack against them in a different thread.

Sounds like you're another one who is pretty sure there are no investigations of Obama on-going and that Obama's legacy will be stain-free.

Obama will be lucky to avoid a firing-squad.  Some in his administration will not be so lucky.  John Brennan, for example.

I don't disagree with what you are saying at all it could be another diversion. But it could also back fire and become a full investigation, especially since Mueller is saying that there is more evidence the public isn't aware of concerning Stones Wikileaks connection. While you may be certain correct, I am going to continue to hope you may also wrong, but either way I am not going to hold my breath.
