Cops capture kangaroo on Fort Lauderdale road

 A kangaroo was on the loose in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday morning — in case you thought 2020 couldn’t get any stranger.

Fort Lauderdale police apprehended the runaway roo near 1300 NE 2nd Avenue after a half-hour pursuit that was captured by Sky 10.

The kangaroo is now in the custody of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. His name is Jack and he belongs to Anthony Macias, who says he didn't shut the gate properly after taking out a recycling bin. He was hoping to bring Jack back home but officials said keeping exotic animals is not permitted in Ft Lauderdale. Macias says he has friends in Palm Beach County who are permitted to house kangaroos.
