'Potato poltergeist' plagues Indian family

Recommended Posts

Still Waters

A family in India believes that some kind of supernatural force has been raining stones and, bizarrely, potatoes onto the roof of their home as well as throwing them around inside the residence. According to a local media report, the case of high strangeness started last Friday night in the community of Umtrew when Kingstar Thongni heard a knock at the door of a neighboring house where his parents live. When there was no one to be found, the family suspected that the mysterious sounds had come from some troublemakers in the neighborhood and promptly phoned the authorities.

While a subsequent search turned up no sign of anyone, things took an odd turn when stones suddenly began raining down upon Thongni's house.

Another such story consistent with many others I've heard. I think this phenomena is likely a real paranormal phenomena.

Papameter 2.0 Reading    on small object flying so-called poltergeist phenomena:

82% Sometimes Paranormal     18% Always Normal

Confidence Level:  Medium

Papameter 2.0      Reading on this particular Indian case

60% Paranormal    40% Normal

Confidence Level:  Low

He said there was sound of knocking on the door of his parents’ house located within a few metres thrice.
Suspecting the handiwork of miscreants, the family informed the village leaders who then visited the house and started a search.
A few hours later, stones started landing at the front verandah of his house.

I wonder if any explosions were happening in the area? Could explain the sound and shrapnel. Unless some local hooligans built a potato gun.

What is more interesting?
Hooligans chuck potatoes at residents house
or
Spooky noisy ghost throws potatoes at poor mans house

You decide.

Probably hooligans.  I don't know why ghosts would throw potatoes.

The 2.0 version is just a software upgrade. The 2.0 version will always give a Confidence Level reading ranging from 'Very Low' to 'Very High' which indicates how much information has been processed. For example a subject I have considered for decades may get a 'Very High'. A one-time story from a stranger on the internet may get a 'Very Low'.

It seems like there was a movie in which that happened.

The rocks, not the potatoes.

I think it may have been a remake of Carrie, but I can't remember.

Stone throwing is common in India. This isn't the first time pranksters have thrown things at houses. Monkeys throw things too. They are fans of throwing their own poop.

This is not the first time that such activity has been reported in Ri Bhoi district.
Earlier, a man at Pahamriniai village was also alleged to have had fights with a ghost at his house.

The article also suggests this is due to deities.
