"Despite long-standing calls for it to be banned by women's rights groups, it continues to be carried out in certain parts of Sumba, a remote Indonesian island east of Bali. A friend from Lao told me that in his country if you want a girl you follow her around until her father yells at you and then you ask to marry her.
