Still Waters Posted August 5, 2020 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2020 Spitting Image has revealed its Prince Andrew, Boris Johnson and Dominic Cummings puppets ahead of the show's return. The prime minister's puppet has a mass of spiky blonde hair, while his key adviser, Mr Cummings, is seen in his trademark hoodie with a flamboyant silver collar. A glum-looking Duke of York is dressed in a tartan coat complete with paisley neckerchief. The satirical series, which in its prime attracted 15 million viewers and ran for 18 seasons between 1984 and 1996, is back later this year on BritBox, the streaming service launched by the BBC and ITV. https://news.sky.com/story/spitting-image-boris-johnson-prince-andrew-and-dominic-cummings-puppets-shown-for-first-time-12042507 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-53662230 3

L.A.T.1961 Posted August 5, 2020 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2020 "The new version will be produced by production company Avalon. Roger Law, co-creator of the original, is on board as executive producer. He has previously promised the new Spitting Image will be "more outrageous, audacious and salacious than the previous incarnation." BBC I guess this is code for biased. The bbc article seems a bit confused by the dates, it claims - "Prime ministers Labour's Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, as well as Conservatives David Cameron and Theresa May - escaped the experience of being regularly parodied on the show during their time in No 10." Well yes they would have as Spitting Image finished in 1996. Back in the day -
Ozfactor Posted August 6, 2020 #4 Share Posted August 6, 2020 Considering one of Prince Andrews accusations is he molested women with a spitting image puppet of himself, it will be interesting to see how they parody him, or will it all be in poor taste while he is under a very dark umbrella of child sex trafficking , associating with child sex traffickers and being removed from all Royal duties. I can remember the original tv show and Prince Andrews puppet once said Sarah Ferguson would ' root a rat running if she could keep up pace ' . Still Waters Posted October 1, 2020 Author #6 Share Posted October 1, 2020 Spitting Image has defended its decision to include a puppet of Greta Thunberg in its new series following an online backlash. The series will take aim at political and pop cultural figures through the use of distorted and caricatured puppets. But after an image of Thunberg’s puppet was unveiled, many people criticised the decision to mock the Swedish climate activist, who is 17-years-old and has autism. Responding to the backlash, Reemah Sakaan, group director of streaming at ITV, told the Broadcasting Press Guild: “It’s a very straightforward joke and is nothing to do with her as an individual." The show will also feature puppets of Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Kim Kardashian, Adele, Meghan Markle, Elon Musk, Beyonce and James Corden among others, over a 10-week series. The thing is we're living in the 'woke' age now, where nobody is allowed to be offended (except white heterosexual males of course).....that was the whole raison d'etre of the original show, plus it's partly funded by the BBC so we already know who the targets will be. 3
Duke Wellington Posted October 2, 2020 #8 Share Posted October 2, 2020 How about Team America 2 instead? We have some good characters for it right now, Trump would be hilarious. 1

TigerBright19 Posted October 2, 2020 #10 Share Posted October 2, 2020 Whatever happened to Newzoids. It was a TV series that kind of parodied spitting image.
itsnotoutthere Posted October 2, 2020 #11 Share Posted October 2, 2020 (edited) Off topic, I just watched an old film on Netflix...John Hurt in Orwells 1984. Now I know what a socialist utopia looks like. Sorry...I'm out. The statue or Orwell outside of the BBC building..........so apt. "lie becomes truth, truth becomes lie" Another quote from the film....." 2 + 2 = ....what Winston?.....4......(bit of torture) ...no Winston....it's 5...It's whatever the party says it is" Now....where have we heard that recently? Equally off-topic - IngSoc lasted roughly a decade, and the US saved the day. Cannot remember where I read that, but it was Orwell’s intent that America was a bastion of freedom. stevewinn Posted October 6, 2020 #13 Share Posted October 6, 2020 By all accounts the show was excellent. Far to edgy for normal BBC, sensitives put to one side, everyone got it regardless of race etc.. But it just goes to show. When it's a subscription service relying on attracting subscribers they provide such programmes. Took the p*** out of Greta Thunberg and all the leftist up in arms. The full episode was on YouTube but they took it down. Here's a little taste trailer.
