The Norsemen

[Arcana]

A furnace spits and crackles
The sound of hammer on iron
A new weapon is forged
Beneath the stars of Orion

A warrior will wield it
One who knows no fear
Praying for Valhalla
With Odin ever near

A life of war besets them
Those who choose this path
To conquer, fight and pillage
And sate their bloody wrath

They show their foes no mercy
Bound by oath they fight
In showers of blood they tread
Forth fiercely in the night

Their ships are led by dragons
Whose wings become their oars
Venturing afar
Towards unknown shores

Another raid will beckon
To plunder treasures anew
Their women join in warfare
For this battle hardened crew

Drums beat a rhythm
Upon return to shore
Announcing their return
With glory shared by Thor

Tales are told aplenty
Over feasts soaked in ale
Of bravery, sacrifice and skill
And where they dared to sail

Runes foretell their destiny
Dictated by their scryer
Guiding them from danger
And tricks from Loki the liar

The Gods above await them
Asgard hears their cries
Baldur lights a pathway
Leading through the skies

The taste of blood for victory
In screams they all reside
Their war cries echo around them
On bloodshed's rising tide

The anvil served its purpose
A mighty sword to wield
With the ferocity of a lion
Upon some foreign field
