Best VPN for security

There is a plethora of vpn providers out there some are better than others when it comes to security and some of them is quite pricey.

What's the best VPN for security in your opinion?

Here's some information on the better VPNs:

Most are on the pricier side but often have specials where you can purchase a long-term subscription at a fraction of the cost.

I have ExpressVPN and it's really good. I don't use it often, but will use it to access region-restricted content or when I'm on public WiFi.

It's one of the more expensive ones, but it's non-problematic, very secure, has a large server, and is very easy to use.

As for free VPNs, do not go anywhere near them:

That's very good advice in general, but there are exceptions.

For example, ProtonVPN, the editor's choice in the PCMag link you gave, has an excellent free service.

CyberGhost also used to have a very good free service, but I think they stopped it a while back

Yes, it does sound like its free version is safe to use.

Here's another review on it:

And here's ProtonVPN's blog article about the safety of its free VPN:

Yeah I'm leery of the free ones as well as there always seems to be a catch. The biggest concern is malware as well as having your private data compromised. There are a number of good VPNs out there that will give you maximum privacy for as little as five bucks a month.

Make sure you read their logging and privacy policies before you commit.

Edit: Also make sure you know what currency their prices are in. I was charged in US dollars for ExpressVPN.
