"Protesters in Malmo city threw stones at police and burned tyres on the streets late on Friday, with violence escalating as the night wore on, according to police and local media.

"The demonstration of about 300 people was connected to a rally earlier on Friday in which far-right activists burned a copy of the Muslim holy book in Rosengard, a largely migrant neighbourhood, police spokesman Rickard Lundqvist told Swedish tabloid, Expressen."

Well, that is the religion of peace, which is rapidly taking over Sweden by demographics.

But the woke Swedish elite wanted it.

We shouldn't, it's happening to us. Projections have the Islamic voting bloc in the UK, reaching a majority by 2050...

Well, under Sharia law lots of books will be burned. Seen any copies of Satanic verses or Mohammed cartoons lately?

Backwards idiots .

The extremist who burned the book is also at fault since he clearly wanted to just start ****.

Humans are dumb. This religious BS shouldn't even happen.

There is no equivalence. You can burn bibles and Buddha scripts all day long, and all you get is complaints, not riots and death threats.

Sure, but religious groups have still done stuff like for a long time stop gay people from being able to get married.

Again, no equivalence. Stopping from getting married is not the same as hanging from lamp posts. Punishment for homosexuality under shariah is DEATH.

can't feel sorry for them they wanted it, and let it happen.  however i see parallel here with liberalism,  libs have been attacking people for conservative beliefs for half a decade already.

The guys who burned the book probably just wanted to prove their point i.e. Violent reactions from a simple gesture of protest.  Just like burning the flag.  We don't see riots when people do that.  You would think people would be allowed to destroy their own private property possessions without provoking mass hysteria and riots.

Remember when Pope Ratzinger openly spoke his mind about Islam and his comments resulted in several brutal murders against Catholics, including an Italian Nun.  As the old saying goes.  'Make a point to prove a point.'

Quote from Pope Ratzinger.

Tolerance is key, and being tolerant to people's opinions is a sign of strength.  Christians are incredibly tolerant - hence the reason why they are the butt of many jokes and insults on television because the networks know that Christians won't react violently when continually mocked on television.

Burning your own book (i.e a book you paid for) is not equal to violence.

If you can't handle your ideas being criticized, then move to a country which restricts freedoms to prevent your feelings being hurt. There are plenty of countries where it's illegal to burn the Quran

The real issue isn't about the book, it's about the ideology that says it's not only acceptable to try to kill over an idea, but that it's actually a GOOD thing to do so, even required.  It's just one more match being tossed at the facade of civilization.

The ironic thing is he quoted a Byzantine emperor who had asked the same question, and added that surely muslim clerics must be happy to answer it. Now THAT set them off. No fury like an Imam who is pressed for answers.

This is the conflict I can't get my head around. Presumably a lot of immigrants come to the west to break away from the kind of religious restraints islamic countries impose on them, there must be something that attracts them to the western lifestyle, otherwise why would they come here, and yet when the come here a large section seem to want to bring those same retraints and practices here that they left behind. Or indeed have they only come here for other reasons if so what. If their religion is that important why not live in the countries that practice that religion, rather than move to one that doesn''t and try to change it.

Is that fact that they aren't yet the majority in the western countries they live in the only thing stopping them throwing gay people off buildings and will that all change when they are??

Well, for some of them, the ignorance of the Western elites is a huge disappointment. Check out what for example Syrian Christians and Yazidis have to say about the issue. Or Egyptian Copts.

For others, it is cognitive dissonance. Even after running away from the misery created by islamic rule, they still can not connect the dots and recognize what did create the misery. Having grown up with total thought control that made any criticism of islam unthinkable, it is a selective lobotomy for them.

'His country'

As opposed to threatening to kill for an idea of what somebody elses country should be like.

Quite telling. So even though they live in that country, people don't count unless they were born there?
