TigerBright19 Posted September 2, 2020 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2020 (edited) Parents have no desire to self isolate for 14 days, and I doubt they will risk their child's safety and their own by sending them to school on a crowded bus or train, especially as face masks are not being worn correctly or even enforced. I also doubt that parents will admit their excuse is due to any covid related reason because that would just make matters worse and force the entire household to self isolate e.g. their child hates school and makes the excuse that they have a sore throat and a slight cold or they hate doing P.E. and they get a note from their parents which excuses their child from P.E due to an alleged sore throat. The excuse alone could put the entire household into self isolation. So they play it safe and keep their child out of school without admitting the true reason why. Parents may also have convinced themselves that a second or third wave is coming over winter and schools will close again, or they genuinely believe they can teach their kids at home far better than at school. If parents are allowed to work from home, then the same perhaps should apply to children who could receive just as good education with home schooling.
