Wouldn't know, since my post was informational and not point oriented. I prefer arguments grounded in fact instead of opinion, such as Dingo's caustic commentary.

ok.. so lets see

now these costing are a couple of years old when it comes to the price of illegal guns ..

https://www.smh.com.au/business/black-market-guns-triple-in-price-20141013-115f08.html#:~:text=Illegal firearms have more than, illegal guns heard on Monday. (Owned by Fairfax media.. ie.. the bloke that owns Fox news :P so you might believe it a bit more)

https://www.ibtimes.com.au/cost-illegal-firearms-australia-has-skyrocketed-criminals-now-do-gun-sharing-1378871

so.. and I say again.. facts are there.. that gun related crimes have dropped since we changed the laws here.. as it was intended to do.. Gun Control Works.. its there in black and white..

Now most aussies (there are a few that do not think the same) are socialist by nature.. Mateship is pretty much a corner stone of the aussie mentality.. if a mate is in trouble you help them out.. now a mate is not just someone you know.. it could be someone else that you have never met but you would help them out.. or a friend of a friend.. take some examples for you..

Hurricane Katrina wiped out a lot of areas of New Orleans and surrounding states.. major damage.. loss of life.. damage which still has not been repaired..

2011.. we had a major storm system go through queensland.. the flooding wiped out whole towns.. and caused major damage. .loss of life.. and it was fixed very quickly.. not just by the state and federal gov.. but by ordinary australians.. Tradesmen.. even unskilled workers flew across the country to help with the clean up and repair.. building companies.. mining companies etc.. sent workers and equipment.. donated building materials to help with the clean up and rebuilding of towns and suburbs.. at no cost.. why? because it is a australian thing to do.. its the aussie mentality.. we have the same thing happen when there are major bush fires that go through as well..

so the gun law change was widely accepted..

So we come to 2020.. the corona virus lockdowns.. having to wear a face mask etc.. the majority of people are doing it.. the ones that are protesting are commonly known as New Age Wannabe Yanks..

Psyche old buddy, I've talked to enough Australian gunowners on a weapons forum to know just how much they resented having to do it. Enough with your pathetic attempts to psychoanalyze  gunowners. It makes you come across as a real weak sister with a **** of a case of penis envy.

LOL.. and I could point you to a number of gun owners that were happy enough to do it.. as they didnt have to give up all the guns..

I agree. I don't know any person in real life who has ever lamented giving away guns. There might be a couple crackpots like the anti making "covidiots" but it's in no way a common sentiment.

What I find rather offensive is that so many Americans want to believe we regret gun control or were forced into it.

Some education is required there.

Dingo! Long time, no see! How's life been treating you? Yeah, I know some from down South Wales and couple of really helpful blokes over around Perth who steered to make a proper Lee Enfield purchase. I didn't have much experience buying imports. I see why the British love those rifles, much smoother action than an '06 Springfield.

It has actually become more of a problem here, with a real leak of American style politics being used to rile people up. In fact the NRA were caught interfering in our gun law changes and also Australia's.

My belief is because the NRA is much more representative of gun manufacturers than gun owners and is protecting it's bottom dollar in much the same way tobacco companies do.

Yes, it's a problem that I've heard of. I've not seen any protests here. If we did, it's one of the few ones I would attend. I'm hoping it's a storm in a teacup. Last thing I'd like to see here. As much as I love Australia, if it did ever embrace gun culture, I would be looking for a more sensible new home.

I would agree on the NRA too. The annual turnover is generally astounding, however, word is they have some financial problems. Maybe that's a current motivator.

New Orleans Is built in great depression in the middle of a swamp. From the city, you look up at ships passing in bordering canals. Some parts will never be rebuilt because it would be encouraging people to live in harm's way. The whole city is living on borrowed time.

That is true, gun manufacturers do influence the NRA a lot more than regular people do.  That is the only reason the NRA has so much  money and is everywhere.  They really have no business doing any thing in any country other than the U.S.  so of course their interfernece in New Zealand and Australia should be noticed and commented on.  The people used to represent the NRA are not normal U.S. citizens either, they are bought and paid for lobbyists.

If you aren't happy with the new rules, you better not plan a protest as that is clearly illegal. I'm not sure what recourse there is for the average citizen to show their displeasure with the government. This is the definition of a police state.

Don't vote for them next election and help your own political party to win. Use petition and letters to your governement. Submerge them with email and letter.

More or less any country can declare martial law... and it's not even at this stage.

Fomenting dissent and thinking that you will have any consequences is a bit off. You can be hang for this in some country.

Still, can't get it... BLM protests are OK, but anti-quarantine protests are not OK? Do BLM protesters have some immunity against CV19?
