It appears that President Trump has brokered a deal between Serbia and Kosovo, including recognition of the state of Israel , with Serbia actually moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem !!

Trump sure is making Obama look like the war-mongering, neocon-loving killer he really was.

Meanwhile, the Left mumbles in slow unison: "Orange...Man...baaad".

Dammit, I opened a thread about the same thing 5 min ago on Europe subforum. I hope that admins will solve this. Although my topic has a different angle.

Trump has done nothing except creating new war possibilities and chaos on the Balkans. Kosovo is recognized by Israel as a country today first, waiting for same move from the other side. Serbia has already recognized Israel but not Kosovo which they claim as part of Serbia. ALREADY, in serbian newspapers, as soon as word came out, anti Israeli sentiment came out from serbs. Wait until tomorrow, 24 hours tops and see the reaction on the streets in Serbia. Anyone who thinks Trump did something great in this regard is a complete and utter fool. The situation was bad, Trump made it worse. Vucic will possibly lose his Head, figurativley, over this. Serbs have supported Trump because at first he was AGAINST the recognition of Kosovo, now he stabbed the Serbs in the back.

So far it is quiet, in Serbia, which is a good sign. Likely to the fact that tensions between Serbs and Montenegrians are rising in Montenegro. Also, the main state owned serbian newspapers are denying or presenting different propaganda about Kosovo being recognized by Israel.

For those not familiar with Kosovo, Serbian history claims that this area is the birthplace of Serbia and no poltician in Serbia will ever recognize it's independence unless tired of being alive.

However, if all goes thru without a new war, I WILL admitt a good, no, great move by Trump.

That is awesome news.  Yes, it is a risk.  There are all sorts of things that can go wrong.

And the trouble is, if you don’t risk anything, you risk even more.” – Erica Jong.

From the article:

Friday’s agreement reflects President Trump’s long-held vision for Kosovo and Serbia to focus on economic development, job creation and industrial development as prerequisites to the permanent resolution of political disputes. His belief from the start has been that trust is built first in the process of creating opportunities and futures for young people, rather than in the settlement of scores, symbolism or the righting of historical wrongs.”

This is the key.  Are the people on both sides ready?  To stop fighting and getting even, to cooperation?  If Kosovo is the birth place of Serbia, then the two peoples must be closer than one thinks.  Bringing them together in cooperation will eventually lead to the border effectively disappearing altogether.  It would be more like the border between US states.
