More firearms finding way on to UK streets

More firearms are finding their way on to Britain’s streets with devastating consequences, the head of the body representing rank-and-file police officers has warned.

John Apter, chair of the Police Federation, which speaks for more than 120,000 officers in England and Wales, spoke out amid growing concerns about the welfare of frontline officers. He said the death of Sgt Matiu Ratana at Croydon custody centre in south London was a “poignant reminder of how dangerous the job is”.

And he warned that rising crime and ministerial pressure for the police to enforce limits on social gatherings have left officers facing an autumn of conflict. “What we have tried to do throughout this crisis is policing by consent,” Apter said. “This pandemic has put that model under pressure.”

In a nation where guns are illegal it means that only criminals have the guns, not law abiding citizens.

It's probably a result of the easy access there is now to "ghost guns" or "resin glocks". On IG there's people selling the kits and they usually sell out within 24 hours of offering them. Here in the US they've been popping up all over the place the last 5-6 years. You can order the parts and manufacture them yourself with very little technical expertise

True. 3D printing has really made it easy to make guns.

Just do what we do here in America, ignore the problem except when you need to use it to make Minorities seem like thugs!

In all seriousness: Nip this in the bud has fast as you possibly can, you do not want to end up with America's gun culture.

to late, the UK Police Force became a Police Service some years back, since then they've recruited the wrong types needed to police society. They are terrified of religious and ethnic minorities accusing them of racism. which as led to people being allowed to carry such knives with impunity. Black Knives Matter.

They should decriminalise guns.  It will reduce the crime rate.
