I thought this was very remarkable. I wonder if other materials will react similarly when pressure is greatly increased.

Similar to the ideal gas law. Where (to a degree) temperature and pressure are relative to each other.

The problem with this innovative discovery is that the new compound, while it superconducts at room temperature, it only exists under very high pressure conditions, so that is an obstacle to further development. Physics has a way of giving with one hand and taking away with the other. 

In a related context it is interesting to note that graphene, first discovered in 2004, has proven to be an exciting find with many applications already developed and with the promise of more since recently a strange quantum property of it was discovered only two years ago

Paper by team claiming to have achieved superconductivity at room temperature retracted

Editors at the journal Nature have retracted a paper by a team that claimed to have achieved superconductivity at room temperature. Published in 2020, the paper described work by a combined team from the University of Rochester and the University of Nevada, announcing that they had reached superconductivity at room temperature with a material made of sulfur, carbon and hydrogen under extreme pressure.

SURE..... He will. Maybe, might, some day.

Much like the E-CAT generator from a few years ago. Probably looking for investors before scrapping the idea and keeping the grant money.
