RoofGardener Posted October 20, 2020 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2020 Well, it's VERY early days, but Lebanon, which is still technically at war with Israel, has been having US-brokered discussions with Israel about borders, despite Hezbollah's disapproval. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-54522733

An agreement MIGHT give them a slice of the Gas fields, and Lebanon is VERY poor. Over half of its annual government tax revenues go to servicing debts. The money from the original loans was squandered by Hezbollah on mortars, rockets, and beard lotion. Hezbollah also restricts foreign trade initiatives, insisting that all economic models be based on strict Islamic ethical guidelines, which mostly consisted of sitting around demanding Jizyah from Infidels. Sadly, however, the USA (and to a lesser extent Europe) have been withholding these donations, triggering a financial crisis. The idea of gas revenue would be a major attraction to the beleaguered Lebanese government. Who knows where that might lead them ? RoofGardener Posted October 27, 2020 Author #9 Share Posted October 27, 2020 ZOMG ? Sudan ? This is EPIC news which - curiously - CNN, MSNBC and the New York Times failed to report ? Actually, the New York Times DID report on this, but in entirely negative and dismissive terms. It's main concern was the impact this could have on the luverly LUVERLY Palestinians.
