I didn't look at the link, but I know the cases are rising in the state I live in.  Last week more than double our highest day between March and August.  Our hospitals did not have a problem accommodating those that needed care because of this virus until last week.  Now they are all overflowing and have stopped regular, non-emergency procedures.  The shortage of staff makes it worse.

Gee, maybe all those "peaceful protesters" are finally get the kung flu.

We didn't have very many protesters and all of them I saw were wearing masks.  Maybe you need a nap or a walk outside.

Maybe I need people to quit telling me what to do. Let me think about this logically for a second. You have a virus that spread through the air. You pack a bunch of meat robots into crowds. Infection spread. Then those infected might just go to whatever home they have, where every they live. Then you have other meat robots who don't care about mask or social distancing, gee I wonder why the number rise. Guess I've just a big dumb dumb.

Yep, be it peaceful protest , a ripping riot, rally, or shopping for essentials some just dont care about percautions, and yep, they spread it to family and friends,

I wont tell you what to do but you can go still hug your wife and kids, some out there arent as lucky as you. :hmm:

it's not personal, today you seem to be taking things personal.

Our numbers went up because of two counties, one where the sheriff actually held a protest against the masks and no one in those two counties wear masks or practice social distancing.  Maybe they don't even wash their hands.  The businesses in those two counties never paid any attention to the rules that the rest of the state was following.  There are no hospitals in those two counties so they are shipped to Las Cruces, Albuquerque or Lubbock.   Outside of Albuquerque I think there are only 4 small hospitals in the rest of the state.

Then there are the young people who want to go out every night, the Governor opened up the breweries because they sell food and usually have a patio, but you can't drink and social distance if you are out in public, so yes, people are stupid and now we have a problem that we had avoided until now.  Even as high as our numbers are now per capita we have lower numbers than most.  And this is not just happening my the state I live in.

Maybe, or maybe the changing weather is causing more people to move indoors in closer proximity.  Seems we were warned this would be the case.  Makes perfect sense that we'd see the beginning of a trend upwards.  I bet we see rising cases further south as the temperatures change.  I also bet we'll see stories of large increases in hospitalizations as we move deeper into flu season as well.  Oh yeah... and - ORANGE MAN BAD!!!

My states numbers are going up as well. Doesn't surprise me really. No mask, no distance.

I think the numbers go up because as time goes on people social distance less. It's human nature.

I would give a decent guess that many of us here have laxed a few times compared to how we were back in March.

There never really was any way to STOP the spread of this virus.  I don't think any realistic person would imagine that to be the case.  It will spread through the population and it will change over time.  All viruses that use human hosts behave that way.  Fortunately for us, less than 1 in 100 who contract it are dying from it.  If THAT number begins to climb, I'll definitely become more concerned.

Your go to sarcasm of "orange man bad"  has the bitter irony of his inept disastrous grossly incompatant epic failure with covid did cost lives and still is, even sacred cow mitch McConnell doesnt have faith in trumps covid response and precautions.

https://www.newsweek.com/mcconnell-says-trump-admin-paying-price-lax-covid-social-distancing-mask-wearing-1537648

Trump couldnt keep himself or family safe and mel is still too sick to go help him scam votes from women at his latest rally and spreader event, i guess he will just have to grab um.

https://www.rawstory.com/2020/10/melania-trump-cancels-appearance-at-pennsylvania-rally-due-to-lingering-cough/

Many rep/gop are in fear that not only trump will lose but they do not like the damage he is doing to their party, they have lives after nov3rd and after trump moves on back to yelling at mar la go workers and dodging illegal issues.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/republican-bloodbath-gop-senators-voice-fears-painful-trump-defeat-n1243804

Trumps typical rejoinder was to call them names including "bad" , that will show them.

Sorry, i wondered off from your riveting post, people might be staying in more due to weather changing sure, but also because they dont want to be out where the rising numbers of people not taking percautions are spreading covid, makes sense to stay away from others as much as possible,  as long as its not labled "lock down" no one will mind too much.

Flu season will be bad far worse than spring when covid first hit  i hope im just fearmongering because if im right thats far scarier.

Well, Bill gates said we'd see the second wave this Fall and THAT would get our attention.

I dont pay much attention to gates i dont like win10,

I dont believe gates has experence with infectious diseases but many experts who do have such experence say there will be another wave, surge, spike whatever, i for one hope they are wrong.

Masks are not the be all and end all.

That is correct, masks are a piece of ammunition we have in the fight to help protect ourselves and others from covid.

This was predictable, from mass protests to utter boredom with lock-downs and the fact most people that get it have mild symptoms, make people indifferent. How's Sweden doing?

Its super cool most people have mild cases, im curious have you had it?

It's fair to assume a rise in infection rates in the northern hemisphere in general, although with a novel virus this can't be known for sure.

No matter how intellectually disabled orange man might, or might not be. A system with an over reliance on private industry to fix problems like this is doomed to fail. Not much shareholder profit/exec bonuses to be found in stockpiling gear and waiting for a pandemic.

Don't think so, but I know people that have. In both cases symptoms were mild (sore throat).

I have been fastidious in isolation because my partner is susceptible to lung infections, she hasn't been out of the house, except for two recent hospital visits, since February. She had a home test kit sent to her a couple of months back and tested -ve.

sorry to hear you guys go thru extra hardship with this virus,

Well that sucks out loud but we knew it likely did, it adds to the gross factor of people sneezing, coughing etc no mask out around others.

Masks are pretty useless if the virus encountered is airborne.

Thats incorrect but if you believe that i wont waste my time any further.

I don't believe it is incorrect, unless you have a proper surgical mask. Masks were recommended because they reduce moisture droplets, not air particles or air sized particles.

Cool, you admit some masks help.

How many people use certified surgical masks?

I dont have those figures but, would you rather me breathe bare faced on you and your other half or through a few layers of cloth?

You ever seen a cig exhaled thru a handkerchief?

You cant sell me on your misinformed idea however, if you think masks are worthless dont wear one, next you will tell me you plan to get deliberatly infected.

You shouldn't be that close, masked or not.

You cherrypick thats fine, proximity is not the point and we both know it, like i said and you missed or ignored,

If you dont like masks dont wear one this isnt personal you dont have to keep keeping if you need the last word say so ill let you have it.

You cant say that on here, you can tell masks are working because the cases figures for covid and influenza are increasing.

Yes, I quit going to Home Depot and the grocery store at 6:30 AM, I go later in the day, though now I will start going early again.  I have had two friends come visit once each, I went to a patio restaurant twice since July.  I took another older friend to the casino twice, as well.  But still, I social distance from strangers and neighbors and wear a mask, even when I visit my brother who has just finished chemo and is getting ready to start radiation treatment.  I rarely go visit my 87 year old aunt and that is hard on her because she lives alone.  I don't know what others are doing but I think you are correct that people are less vigilant, tired of the tedium.  I spend a lot more time on the phone with everyone.   We need to always be aware that others may not be as healthy as we are and that the hospitals are sometimes at a breaking point.  In the U.S. medical care is not great to begin with so the system would be easy to break.  NYC was a good example of that.
