Monkeys chained and forced to work?

Eldorado

Recommended Posts

Costco has reportedly stopped purchasing Chaokoh coconut milk after PETA accused its manufacturer, the Thailand-based company Theppadungporn Coconut Co., of using forced monkey labor.

PETA investigators from its Asia division found cruelty to monkeys at farms and facilities used by Theppadungporn Coconut Co., according to the animal rights group.

"When not being forced to pick coconuts or perform in circus-style shows for tourists, the animals were kept tethered, chained to old tires, or confined to cages barely larger than their bodies," a PETA news release stated.

"One coconut farmer confirmed that when monkeys are terrified and try to defend themselves, handlers may have their teeth pulled out."

Do PETA care when monkeys childs being abused in workforce? And what PETA equipment (video/audio) being used?

Let me be clear: I'm not for animal abuse, period. But what PETA does ain't any clear of animal care.

Why is PETA Killing Thousands of Rescue Pets?

Article is from the Huffington Post no less. Article is from 2012 but PETA's record of euthanizing 85 to 90% of their so called animal rescues goes back even farther.

Quote

Virginia requires animal shelters to report the number of dogs and cats taken in each year -- how many are euthanized and how many are adopted.

These statistics are available through Virginia's Sunshine Law and, as incredible as some may find it, since 1998, of the 31,815 animals (mostly dogs and cats) admitted to PETA shelters, only 3,159 were adopted -- and 27,751 were killed.

That's a 9.7% adoption rate and an 87.2% kill rate -- a ghastly record for an organization purporting to work on behalf of animals. To me that suggests a view that if an animal isn't free and in the wild, it is better off dead.

This sounds a lot like a modernized version of the "monkeys working on a plantation" hoax. Consider me skeptical, especially since it's coming from PETA and there's no photo/video evidence.

I don't think it's cruel teaching monkeys to harvest coconuts but they should be housed better. On a different note, you should never abuse your monkey,a good spanking does the trick.
