LA hits 300 homicides for the year

Eldorado

Los Angeles police announced 300 homicides have occurred in the city so far this year, a figure not seen in more than a decade.

The last time there were that many reported homicides in a year was in 2009.

"A number we have not seen in over a decade-300 homicides in a year. Senseless violence & tragic loss of life," LAPD tweeted Sunday afternoon.

"Our people are doing everything they can to stop the violence, but we need your help."

As if the Covid-19 pandemic wasn’t bad enough, America is also seeing a big surge in homicides this year.

A new report, by the Council on Criminal Justice, found that the homicide rate increased sharply this summer across 27 US cities: “Homicide rates between June and August of 2020 increased by 53% over the same period in 2019, and aggravated assaults went up by 14%.” Other data, from crime analyst Jeff Asher, found that murder is up 28 percent throughout the year so far, compared to the same period in 2019, in a sample of 59 US cities. A preliminary FBI report also found murders up 15 percent nationwide in the first half of 2020.

Philadelphia is well over 400 at the moment and counting. They reached the 400 mark in October. There were 6 last night alone and more injured. It ranks second in the nation, right after Chicago. The deadliest year since 2007. Many are under the age of 18.

Unlike most other cities, San Francisco is also experiencing a dramatic upsurge in other serious crimes.  Stop Crime SF previously reported that crime was up this spring, and the police department’s crime data dashboard shows burglaries climbed sharply in July also. They were up 56 percent, with 680 burglaries reported. Burglaries have also risen a steep 42 percent for the year to date.

Similarly, motor vehicle thefts were up 71 percent in July and 30 percent for the year. Arsons climbed 35 percent for the same period, with an increase of 44 percent for the year to date.

Much of the blame for rising crime falls on San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, as his office fails to prosecute many criminals, including drug dealers who poison the Tenderloin and other neighborhoods with heroin and fentanyl, while deaths from drug overdoses reach a record high. And it appears the burglary community is spreading the news that San Francisco is the place to be, since the DA is soft on crime,” Noto said.

Philadelphians say the same thing about their DA and Mayor. They are right. They had a good police chief and fired him. They don't like the new one at all. It's all shooting in the hoods and robberies. A lot of kids going missing also. Chief Ross was gone long before the riots and looting began. He handled things well and there were no issues with the police.

Didn't he actually try to stop this but was denied using the military by certain politicians of the states most affected, just asking for a friend?

Possibly, but then people reminded him that the Constitution forbade using the military to police citizens.

It looks as though a lot of the homicides might be domestic incidents, which have been one of the worst side effects of the pandemic and its closures.

According to this news story over all crime was down and , well it appears that general family and relationship friction could well be responsible.

So not Gangs.

This link is from October. There have been over 100 since then. These aren't domestics. More in the more news links in the article.

https://www.phillyvoice.com/shooting-carroll-park-west-philly-homicide-fatal-gun-violence/

Here's more. All but the top 3 in the More Stories are from the Philadelphia area. Open the show more tab at the bottom. Some are from the shooting of Wallace or other stories. These are from this week. Later stories to the last few weeks. Keep opening the show more tab at the bottom. Frankford, Logan, Strawberry Mansion, Kensington, Vineland....these are all sections of Philadelphia. This is every day in Philly. People are gunned down in the streets, in their homes, and in the businesses. They're shooting people in cars. These aren't legal gun owners. These people couldn't care less about the law.

https://6abc.com/tag/shooting/

Some of these are from up my way. We had a couple dozen shootings up here including the Lehigh Valley Mall. Kids getting shot over drug deals.

This is from September.

Oops. Didn't mean to quote myself. There's hundreds of shootings in that tag link from all over Philly. Keep opening the show more tab. Most of the stories are from different sections of the city. There's a few that were national stories.

we normally have around 10k in those cities combined,  mostly dems run poor parts of cities,  expect more crime in these places,  yet i have 0 doubts, (and we'll see it soon,)  in parts of the country where crime was low, it wont go up much, maybe few %.
