That could be possible, but while they but hey believe that it could be caused by Neon 22, however, their comments say that Neon 22 has never been found a puree enough state to account for the warmth of these White Dwarf Stars. I am going to my opinion of what could be possibly occurring, I suspect it could be cold fusion that has started within those starts, why I do not have enough information to speculate at this time!
