Leiningen Versus the Ants?

A fast-paced read from my youth.

.

Yes that seems to have been a very common story given out as a High School reading. I've met people from Japan, Nepal, Arabia, Europe and South America who read that in the equivalent of High School. The story is excellent but the movie sucked.

It my case it was not an assigned reading but something encountered in the library. Certainly agree that it is a great read, one of those that is difficult to put down. Never saw the movie though Hollywood does have a reputation for wrecking perfectly good books.

Yes, that story has stuck with me for many years, I introduced it to my wife and she used it as a advance reading for non-native speakers - oh, warning don't see the movie - it interjects a romance into the plot and it is just terrible.

A single ant isn't that smart, but a large group of them can sometimes be equal to a mammalian brain.

After what I saw on CNN the past hours, I think the reverse is true for humans.

Funny.

Yeah, and it wasn't even meant to be funny

I just found an interesting theory by a neuroscientist about the possibility of humans ever forming a socalled 'hive mind', of course based on social insects like bees and ants:

Just watched the news.

The Chinese Communist Party comes closest to an ant queen.

I find that scary.

I am so fond of that author! Been reading and re-reading him on and off for decades.
