These guys are monsters

I've actually had to reinforce fencing because our alpha male spurred tortoise keeps ramming the **** out of everything 

Yes he will charge you and try to knock you down. What he does with you after that is probably left unknown. Let's just say they're almost as horny as 180 year old Galapagos Tortoises. Almost.

@Hankenhunter aight bud, here's the rundown...

I just had to laugh at how perfect the story is because, at the zoo, we do in fact have an adult male African Spurred Tortoise who is right around 200lbs, as well. He is extremely territorial and aggressive; not defensive, aggressive, as in he'll come after you. He will actually use the front of his shell as a battering ram and attempt to knock down the posts of his outdoor enclosure and he has ALMOST succeeded a few times...
