Liverpool mayor arrested in fraud probe

The elected Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, has been arrested.

The city leader was arrested earlier today by Merseyside Police along with four other men in connection with offences of bribery and witness intimidation as part of an investigation into building and development contracts in Liverpool.

'Bribery and witness intimidation'  ....sounds like something Martin Scorsese could make a film about. I wonder if Joe Pesci can do a scouse accent?

we knew about this three months ago via the grapevine. his daughter works for a housing developer, chippy tits Anderson only gets a brand new £850,000 house, only last week he bought a 85,000 static caravan in Wales. you wont hear this on the news, but then you cannot substitute local knowledge (the old ear to the ground)

Oh my god! I can't believe that vile waste of space is still screwing his home town. He should have been banned from Liverpool last time around, when he destroyed so much of the city's architectural heritage(or even better . . . lynched!). I hope he burns in Hell for eternity!

I was still living in Liverpool when Hatton and his crew were wreaking havoc there. The damage they did to some wonderful old buildings, destroying some completely, absolutely broke my heart. The worst thing was, those amazing buildings were the work of ordinary scousers  . . . people like my grandfather . . . I imagine the destruction broke their hearts too and maybe, in some cases, even hastened their deaths.

He claimed to represent the working man but stole money and sent his children to private schools. Cheated on his wife too.

Government investigation launched into Liverpool Council after city rocked by Mayor's arrest

Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick today confirmed that he has appointed a special inspector to look into the situation at the city council following a number of arrests and an ongoing police investigation.

But he will not send in government commissioners to run the council at this stage, having been assured that measures have been put in place to stabilise the council.
