China's cotton picking slaves

Eldorado

China is forcing hundreds of thousands of Uighurs and other minorities into hard, manual labour in the vast cotton fields of its western region of Xinjiang, according to new research seen by the BBC.

Based on newly discovered online documents, it provides the first clear picture of the potential scale of forced labour in the picking of a crop that accounts for a fifth of the world’s cotton supply and is used widely throughout the global fashion industry.

Those who are becoming wealthy in THIS nation by enabling the CCP should someday have to, along with their children, experience everything these slaves are experiencing today.

The U.S. government announced Wednesday that it will halt imports of cotton and tomatoes from the Uighur region of China in its most sweeping action yet to pressure the Communist Party over its campaign against ethnic minorities.

Officials said Customs and Border Protection will use its authority to block products suspected of being produced with forced labor to keep out cotton, tomatoes and related products from the Xinjiang region of northwest China.

I think the cotton block might hurt more than the tomato one. Tomato product is at 10 mil, but U.S. imports is 2.4 bil. That 10 mil is probably just gonna be shifted to other countries for processing. Italy imports a lot, they might pick up some of those tomatoes and export more product to the U.S..

In parting shot, Trump administration declares China's repression of Uighurs 'genocide'

"After careful examination of the available facts, I have determined that the PRC, under the direction and control of the CCP, has committed genocide against the predominantly Muslim Uighurs and other ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang," Pompeo said in a statement.

"I believe this genocide is ongoing, and that we are witnessing the systematic attempt to destroy UIghurs by the Chinese party-state," he added.

Not likely that any American President can fix it, at least not alone.  I think we wanted to retire as world policeman.

Women in China’s system of detention camps for ethnic Uighurs and other Muslims in its western region of Xinjiang were subject to rape, sexual abuse and torture, according to a BBC report on Wednesday.

The British broadcaster said on its website “several former detainees and a guard have told the BBC they experienced or saw evidence of an organised system of mass rape, sexual abuse and torture.”

The allegations could not be independently verified by Reuters.

There is a "very credible case" that the Chinese government is carrying out the crime of genocide against the Uighur people, according to a formal legal opinion newly published in the UK.

It concludes there is evidence of state-mandated behaviour showing an intent to destroy the largely Muslim minority in north-western China.

Canada’s parliament has voted to declare China’s treatment of Uighur Muslims in the Xinjiang region a genocide, becoming only the second country in the world to do so after the US.

Though Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and most of his cabinet abstained from the vote, the non-binding motion brought by the opposition Conservative Party received overwhelming support in the House of Commons and was passed by 266 votes to 0.

Of course, but if China has the governments support, they can export to the USA cotton from the Uighur region without the US knowing.

As allegations of human rights violations in Xinjiang mount, with a growing number of Western lawmakers accusing China of genocide, Beijing is focusing on discrediting the female Uighur witnesses behind recent reports of abuse.

A video circulating on social media shows a Hong Kong protester being beaten by five officers during demonstrations in the city.

The man is first hit from behind before each officer begins repeatedly striking the man with batons. He is cornered and pushed to the floor before four more officers arrive at the scene.

China's tightly controlled, invitation-only media events on Xinjiang require journalists to submit questions days or weeks in advance. They include pre-recorded videos and prepared testimony by former camp inmates and religious figures.

Beijing has packaged content from the events in two volumes titled, "The Truth About Xinjiang: Exposing the US-Led Lies and Slanders About Xinjiang".

At least it improving in Uzbekistan, maybe... they were doing the same thing more or less. Cotton have a stong connection with slavery it seems...

https://www.antislavery.org/cotton-crimes-persist/

It doesn't look good for Uighurs at all. Sad stuff happening. But looking at China we need to put things into perspective...they are 1.4 billions. These things have to stop, but numbers from China always look astonishing.

It would be interesting to see the umber per capita of these slaves and compare it to the number per capita of human traffiking and illegal immigrants that are used like slaves in western countries. And the number of person per capita in prisons, number of person killed in manifestation, per cops, and so on... We would be probably surprised by the numbers.
