Grim Reaper 6 Posted December 21, 2020 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2020 Lockheed Martin Corp. agreed to acquire the defense industry supplier Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings Inc. in a deal valued at $4.4 billion. With Aerojet, Lockheed Martin is picking up a key U.S. supplier of propulsion systems for missiles, rockets and other space and defense applications. “Acquiring Aerojet Rocketdyne will preserve and strengthen an essential component of the domestic defense industrial base,” Taiclet said in the statement. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/finance-companies/lockheed-martin-to-buy-aerojet-rocketdyne-for-dollar44-billion/ar-BB1c5Ji9
Tatetopa Posted December 21, 2020 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2020 I used to work on producing parts for the little cruise missile engines that Rocketdyne makes. They have been doing if for 25 years or so. Lockheed buying them does not "preserve an strengthen" anything. A 4 billion dollar defense company just gets swallowed up by a 60 billion dollar defense megacompany. Doesn't do a lot for development, competition, cost savings, or defense. Only my opinion.
