An ex serviceman from Florida has been charged in a Saturday night shooting at an Illinois bowling alley that killed 3 and wounded 3. The bowling lanes were closed but a bar was not. The two teens wounded were picking up food. One is in the hospital in stable condition. The third person wounded is in critical condition.

According to what I'm reading now, FOX 29 had it wrong. This is an active duty special forces soldier who did the shooting. The Army is cooperating with civilian authorities. He went into a bowling lane bar and murdered elderly citizens and wounded teenagers. Soft target. He also tried to hide himself and his weapons. He'll fry for this.

"Upon arrival, officers heard gunfire from inside the building," O'Shea said. "Within several minutes, the officers were able to locate what they believed was the suspect and he was taken into custody without any officers firing their weapons."

The 37-year-old White male suspect, identified by authorities as Duke Webb, had attempted to conceal his identity and hide his weapons from police, O'Shea added.

Webb, a Florida resident and an active-duty soldier, was charged with three counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder, Winnebago County State's Attorney J. Hanley said during the news conference.

The US Army confirmed that Webb is a sergeant first class currently assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group as an assistant operations and intelligence sergeant. The unit is based at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

Webb joined the Army in 2008 and was on leave when the shooting occurred, according to the Army.

Special Forces soldiers are considered the Army's foremost experts in unconventional warfare. Nicknamedthe Green Berets for its official headwear, Special Forces units are often deployed to intercept terrorist activity or insurgency abroad.

The Army said in its statement that it will continue to assist the Rockford Police Department in its investigation.

"We are shocked and saddened to learn about this tragic event and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those killed and wounded," said Col. John W. Sannes, commander of the 7th Special Forces Group.

O'Shea said his department is in touch with the Army as part of its ongoing investigation.

It's being called a random act but no one knows why he did this.

Rockford Police Chief Daniel O’Shea said Sunday that 37-year-old Duke Webb, originally from Florida, has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder for the shooting at Don Carter Lanes, which he called a “completely random act.”

Webb attempted to obscure his face and hide his weapons as police closed in, O’Shea said, but most of the incident was captured on surveillance footage at the bowling alley.

I see that FOX 29 has since corrected it's headline.

Hope he does fry, but we will see on that one. The question is, why did he do it. As my late mother would say, "All the squirrels aren't in the park."  The had the bombing Christmas Day in Nashville, and then saw on the news they arrested some guy who had an rv, and was a copycat, only this fool didn't thank God have any explosives in it.
