Eldorado Posted January 6, 2021 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2021 Head teachers have warned a replacement system for cancelled exams in England must avoid the "shambles" of last year's results. Education Secretary Gavin Williamson is to make a statement on "alternative arrangements" for GCSE and A-level exams cancelled in the pandemic. This could include using teachers' estimated grades. A replacement system must not "inflict further disadvantage on students", says the exams watchdog Ofqual. Full monty at the BBC: Link
stevewinn Posted January 6, 2021 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2021 Get them back to school cancel the six week summer holidays. And other term breaks. So they can catch up. In fact in order to catch up cancel all term and summer holidays for the next three years. The teachers and unions would soon have the doors open.

What about the pupils who are due to leave school this year? "You're staying here until you're twenty-one!" lol (I laugh but it's a serious matter.) Get them back to school and all problems are solved, the questions i'd want them to answer, the schools and teaching Unions, why are private schools open and continuing as normal. And why was it safe for schools to be open last term - But not this, the procedure last term was in anyone tested positive for covid the whole class/year was off isolating for 14 days. Why have they waited to deem it unsafe only once the govt changed the 14 day isolating and replaced it with every being tested in stead of being off. the mass testing was meant to roll out at the start of this month January. from January all staff in secondary schools and colleges will be eligible for weekly rapid tests as part of an initial rollout. Students will be eligible for daily testing for seven days if they are identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive. Under current guidelines, up to a whole school bubble has to self-isolate if one student or staff member tests positive. From January, those in the same bubble do not need to self-isolate if they agree to be tested once a day. This will improve attendance and ensure young people can benefit from face-to-face teaching as much as possible. Get them back in and get the teachers back in.
