Eldorado Posted January 17, 2021 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2021 Leading Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny departed from Germany on Sunday to return to Russia, where he faces the threat of arrest, after recovering from his poisoning in August with a nerve agent. Navalny, who announced on Wednesday that he planned to return, said he was “very happy” as he boarded a plane in Berlin bound for Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport. It remains to be seen what reception awaits him in Moscow. On Thursday, Russia’s prison service said that he faces immediate arrest once he returns. quiXilver Posted January 17, 2021 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2021 Do they have some of his family? Why go back? I'm stunned he'd willingly return if not being heavily coerced by some leverage. He could have died a number of times during is numerous arrestation if Russia would want him dead. Why using some exotic chemical when a couple of drops of fentanyl would have done the job neat and sweet... It look like a good political smoke show to make Russia look bad.

aztek Posted January 19, 2021 #9 Share Posted January 19, 2021 (edited) Quote The United States and several EU countries criticized the detention of politician Alexei Navalny at Sheremetyevo airport and demanded that the Russian authorities release him immediately. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakharova, in response, called on foreign diplomats to "respect international law, not encroach on the national legislation of sovereign states and tackle problems in your own country." https://meduza.io/news/2021/01/18/ssha-i-strany-evrosoyuza-prizvali-osvobodit-navalnogo-mid-rossii-v-otvet-posovetoval-zanyatsya-sobstvennymi-problemami?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=main&fbclid=IwAR3JHGkBBuVuucfVo6rbPjNPPCGtn8hdfifvVdTm74KmFuEzzEzS94nS3E8 so basically Russian gvmnt says FRACK OFF. quiXilver Posted January 31, 2021 #23 Share Posted January 31, 2021 As I've thought more about all the aspects of his life and what's driving this decision, all that I've never been privvy to... perhaps due to what he's witnessed, he's willing to give both his freedom and his life, to make a statement and become a symbol for a growing resistance. Whatever is going on, his fortitude is remarkable.
