Still Waters Posted January 29, 2021 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2021 Confusion has rocked the iconic Nairobi City Market after workers who are doing renovation works covered a large concrete crucifix which was discovered underground. Nairobi News has since learnt that the work being done by Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) was to be halted at the request of the National Museums of Kenya to probe the cross more. The mysterious cross-like concrete triggered interest by archaeologists and architectural historians on what could be beneath it. https://nairobinews.nation.co.ke/editors-picks/nms-covers-mysterious-cross-discovered-at-city-market-again Quote According to the National Museums of Kenya Director of Sites and Monuments, Purity Kiura, the slab was a cover for something beneath the ground. She stated that the conclusion from the site visit by one of the archaeologists is that the spectacle was a washing area used for the market decades ago. “The National Museums Kenya perspective is that this was a washing basin, like a huge washing basin, which was reinforced with this structure, which looks like a cross. https://www.kenyans.co.ke/news/61519-govt-explains-mysterious-cross-discovered-nairobi-cbd
