Military guards mysterious monolith which has appeared in south-eastern Turkey. The three meter tall object was found on Friday (February 5) near Gobeklitepe, a 12,000 year-old temple in Turkey which recently became a UNESCO World Heritage site.

How did it just disappear with well armed military personnel surrounding it? The article says it was unclear if authorities removed it. They must have.

Mysterious monolith turns out to be viral ad for Turkey’s Space Program

The metal slab bore an inscription in old Turkic Göktürk alphabet that read, “Look at the sky, you will see the moon.” After President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s announcement and utterance of the same phrase, it was understood that it was a viral marketing tactic for the Turkish Space Program.

I find that interesting because it was banned as being pagan and connected with Tengrism for the longest time. 

Cool fact. There are documents written in it in a few Chan Buddhist temples.
