Attack on Saudi Arabia

Earlier today there was another strike on Saudi Arabia using both ballistic missiles and drones.

Normally none of that would be anything unusual except for what for what an advisor to the Saudi Royal court has said to the Wall Street Journal.  According to this advisor the Saudi government has ruled out the attack on Ras Tanura coming from Yemen and being done by the Houthis despite their claims of doing the attack and that instead the attack came from either Iraq or Iran and either done by an Iranian backed militia or Iran themselves.  The rest of the attacks, there were multiple locations attacked as normal, were almost certainly done by the Houthis as they are areas the Houthis have generally targeted previously.

Either would be an escalation but an attack directly from Iran on Saudi Arabia will have ramifications especially if Saudi Arabia can produce proof of it coming from Iran.  It does seem that Iran is becoming far more belligerent with the Biden administration and there are some reports/rumors that $3 billion of frozen Iranian assets have been released but there are contradictory stories on that currently.

IF the ransom payment is true that is going to open a door that the current "administrative committee" in Foggy Bottom may struggle to close again.  Isn't Ras Tanura the main facility for refining in S.A.?  I have no love for the Wahabi demons but they have a LOT to lose if Iran significantly reduces their income and with that, their ability to bribe governments like ours for protection.  It just might cause the young gun to cozy up to Israel and pre-empt the plans the Tan Messiah and his corrupt little DC Politburo are spinning up in the WH basement these days.  Netanyahu would love to spit in his face, no doubt.  He could make things ugly for Israel but he couldn't openly assist Iran militarily and that is the ONLY way those IRGC "professionals" could defeat the IDF.  No doubt he'd do all he could to cause the IDF as many casualties as possible so long as he wasn't implicated directly.  Hell, even former presidents might pause before they angered the Mossad THAT much.

Yeppers... I sense a denouement in the offing.

Not sure if it's the main refinery or not but the port has thd world's largest oil terminal so if is a key export hub for Saudi Arabia.  Also the gated city near the port/refinery has a decent amount of American and British citizens living there compared to other areas in Saudi Arabia.

If Saudi Arabia does feel like Iran is targeting them directly it does drastically increase the likelihood of an Israeli and Saudi Arabian, by extension Sunni, alliance.   There are already starting to be reports that Israel and Saudi Arabia are engaging in strategic defense discussions behind the scenes.  It seems increasingly likely there will probably be a large regional war soon with Iran and the Shia population on one side and the Sunni population with Israel on the other.
