Maybe even Megalodon is hiding somewhere in the depths.

Uh yeah no. If megalodon was still alive today we'd commonly be seeing it. It was a surface and shallow dweller that lived in warm waters, we'd be seeing whales being beached with massive bite marks, and during whale tours, tourists would see megs breaching out grabbing whales. This was an apex predator during its time, it needed plenty of food, the ocean isn't deeming with as much life as it did back then once the whaling industry and industrialization began.

Its definitely extinct.

Even if it eventually did adapted and evolved into the deepest depths of the oceans, it'd no longer be a megalodon to begin with.

Tall tales is all it is.   Probably loosely based off a giant squid.

These animals are often told to be seen raising many of its tentacles out of the water and on to the deck of ships.   I don't think that is even possible.

Thats not entirely correct, there are a few scientists who have pieced together a fair amount,

There were periods in the past when squids became very large

It's a speculative idea. In its defence, McMenamin points out that modern cephalopods are some of the most intelligent creatures at sea, and that octopuses have been known to collect rocks in their dens. However, his critics point out that there is no evidence that modern cephalopods stockpile their prey.

McMenamin has now found a fossil that he believes to be part of the tip of an ancient squid-beak. He presented his findings at the Geological Society of America. We think we're seeing a very close connection between the deep structure of a particular group of modern squid and this Triassic giant, says McMenamin. What it tells us is there were periods in the past when squids became very large.

However, other palaeontologists remain to be convinced. So far, it is not clear if there truly were gigantic squid in the seas of the past.

It doesnt take a squid all that large to drag a human to death so i dont question we have monsters out there the thread asking about the kraken i think of a creature that was always mythology and never existed to start with, if that myth is based on a creature like a squid i do not know.

The Kraken is usually depicted as a massive octopus like creature, and there are giant octopi the world record size is a arm span of 32ft. long. The Kraken was likely a relative of the currently known species. We know more about the surface of the moon than we do about the depths of the ocean. Considering that the ocean is so vast, if its still in existence, its likely that the Kraken simply hasn't been seen yet. After all the Giant Squid was thought to be a myth until one was pulled up by a fisherman in 1873.
