NSW hit by 'worst mice plague in decades'

An Australian state has been hit by its worst mice plague "in decades" after a bumper grain harvest.

Farmers in New South Wales who made hay bales for the winter expect to lose many to the mice.

Footage shows thousands of tiny rodents swarming around a farm in the town of Gilgandra.

"At night... the ground is just moving with thousands and thousands of mice just running around," farmer Ron Mckay told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

Desperate farmers beg for help with NSW mouse plague

Desperate farmers are begging the government for assistance as a mouse plague across the NSW Central-West continues to rage on.

Millions of rodents are invading schools, homes, and farms - and wiping out crops.

Farmers gathered at State Parliament yesterday asking for $25,000 to bait the mice, but no ministers attended their meeting.

Mice ‘raining’ from sky in regional NSW

A new video has shown mice raining from the sky in central west NSW as farmers try to battle through a seemingly endless horror rodent plague.

ABC journalist Lucy Thackray shared a video showing dead and live mice falling to the ground in central west NSW, as a farmer tried to clean out their silo.

Farmers in Australia are struggling to cope with a major “mouse plague” that has left crops destroyed and homes infested with hundreds of rodents running amok.

In New South Wales, the most heavily hit area, rodents have found their way into schools, hospitals, supermarkets and countless family homes, causing widespread upset.

But, the poisonous bait used in an effort to eradicate the plague affects other native species.

ii'll take your word for it,  it does sound like what my cat would choose,   but still you have an invasion of introduced species,  maybe you need its natural enemy,  which is a cat

Or snakes, of which we used to have a metric shittonne until farmers exterminated them. Or eagles. Or flamethrowers.

If anybody down under wants to know how to keep them away then...

If you are male they are repelled by the smell of male urine. Urinate in the watering can water your front and rear pavements.

Mouse plagues? Nah, that’s more Disney’s area, not God’s.

Poison. You know... exactly what the farmers are asking for and the elected dip****s are ignoring.

So, poison has been ruled out, try again, what's your solution.
