The @ thingy

I read posts which have links to a person's profile by using the @.

How do I do that?

Type @, then start typing the person's name (don't leave a space) - a list will appear and you select the name from the list.

Note that if you do use it though, the member in question will receive a notification.

I did all that, but somehow it didn't work.

And yes, I know the member in question will receive a notification. That's the reason I want to know how to do it.

Are you typing the name immediately after the @ sign - no spaces ?

Also, try typing the first couple of letters, then let the list load before continuing.

It worked, and I have not the faintest clue why it worked now, and not before when I did exactly the same.

It disappears sometimes, for no apparent reason, so just start again with the '@'

If you make a spelling mistake, the username you want might disappear off the list, so take your time with it.

You have to select the name from the list, just typing it in plain text won't do anything.

I use FireFox with an ad blocker.

And I use a smartphone, a Samsung Galaxy A01.

As Saru said, don't leave a space after the '@' before you start typing the username.

You just have to practice. I practice on @acute all the time because I like to make him, @acute look, especially when @acute is trying to do all the @acute things which @acute does.

I could, but it works. And sometimes it doesn't.
