NASA Astronaut saw a 'snake' floating in space

Eldorado

Recommended Posts

A former NASA astronaut believes he saw a large snake floating through space.

We recently reported that more than 10% of the UK public believe they’ve seen a UFO. All across the world, year after year, sightings and reports of unidentified aerial phenomena flood the web – whether it’s experimental aircraft or extraterrestrials, we don’t know.

However, the most damning accounts come from the experts. While there’s conspiracy theories over what Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin saw on the moon, Franklin Story Musgrave once spoke of an eight-foot snake ‘out there’ in space, which he couldn’t fully explain.

Really? You'd think an astronaut would be able to tell the difference between a seal, and snake. He seemed sure of what he saw. Possibly a snake that accidentally hitched a ride, and once frozen, fell away from a ship.

"You see satellites. I've seen Mir go by within 28 miles; other satellites and you don't know what they are, but maybe just space debris. All kinds of debris come off space ships, especially at the back end after the main engines shut down and you open the doors: ice chips, oxygen or hydrogen, stuff dumped from the engines. On two flights I've seen and photographed what I call "the snake," like a seven-foot eel swimming out there. It may be an uncritical rubber seal from the main engines. In zero g it's totally free to maneuver, and it has its own internal waves like it's swimming. All this debris is white, reflecting sunlight, or you don't see it. Cruising along with you at your velocity, it's still got its own rotation. At zero g, things have an incredible freedom. It's an extraordinary ballet."

I would say space debris since it was rotating out of control.

He saw it on two missions, so I have real doubts about that

So what? The chances of seeing the same space junk twice are somehow less that seeing the same "space snake" twice? That logic make absolutely no sense.

Seeing the same thing twice has zero bearing on what it actually is.

You're right--it was a real space snake.

HeHummm, where do I begin here.

Ok, the speed of a spacecraft/capsule in space can be anywhere from 17,000 to 25,000 mph. With that said...
This spacecraft/capsule comes shooting into open space, and by a miracle of god, there is this "space junk" to greet it
going in the exact same vector (3D direction) at the exact same rate of speed. You buying that, moonman...?

And then you find it happens twice, with the exact same piece of space junk?

"Ahhh, ma'am... I think I'll pass on that cherry pie, I'm a little too full right now" :-*

To me that is a alien of some sort or it could be an alien probe

Whatever it was, UFOguy, it was "escorting" them.

I don't buy that - twice, some gasket from the engine fell off. Whaaaa... they didn't fix it after the first time? Engine gaskets are non-essential??

Oy.

You do realize that space junk is partially parts shed from rockets, right? Parts MEANT to be left up there, aka "non-essential". One time usage. And they launched a whole mess of the same kind of rockets, right? Therefore, it's safe to assume this discarded gasket or whatever is NOT the only one just like it up there. And these rockets follow the same orbital paths quite often AFAIK.

They left whole boosters up there, but a discarded chunk of rubber confuses you? I suggest you do some basic research on the space program and how it all works. It's no wonder you believe the stuff you do when you don't even understand why a rocket part would be left in orbit.

MM: "They left whole boosters up there, but a discarded chunk of rubber confuses you?"

No, it doesn't confuse me at all. What is glaring here, moonman, is you have no idea how next-to-impossible it is to go into space and encounter
a piece of space junk that is going in the exact same direction at the exact same speed. And somehow the two meet up. Twice. Hot Damm, man!!

An engine gasket that looks like a snake...   oh dear.

AGAIN, since it seems to keep going over your head - who says it was the exact same piece? Lots of rockets dumping lots of similar parts means it could have been a completely different chunk that just looked similar.

Even if it was the exact same piece, again, so what? Do you think they don't see the same satellites more than once? They see the same things again and again when they take the same orbital paths. It's not extraordinary to see the same stuff at all. They launch from the same place and take the same window out of orbit at the same speed, which leads to overlapping orbits for all the crap up there.

What you lack in your analysis is the knowledge that random space junk is NOT in the same orbit after time. it slips.
Musgraves 2nd journey into orbit will not find that same piece of space junk in the same orbit.

Yes - they see them buzzing by going thousands of miles per hour.

I seriously doubt they take the same orbit. Deviations could be in the tens of miles even if they tried for the same orbit.
Further, the orbit itself is some 30,000 miles long (circumference) and what an amazing miracle it is that the
space capsule just happens to enter the orbit where the snake is, and going the same speed! Wow. there must be a zillion of them space snakes! :o

Moonman, if they tried to engineer that feat, it would be damm hard to do.

Weird. He obviously wouldn't know what every piece of rocket machinery looks like but also how would you not know if something looked, well not alive but at least organic.

@Earl.Of.Trumps no one has suggested that it was the exact same piece of space junk seen twice, you’re the only one who has suggested that.

You’re hung up on that point for some odd reason.

Look what zero gravity can do to your brain, the poor guy just started to see snakes !

Please, don't take that seriously... maybe he have ophidiophobia and anything that ressemble a snake a bit trigger his brain in some bad ways...

This sounds the most reasonable except nobody is addressing the fact that he says it had internal motion. If it was undulating and following him a long time then he got a got look at it's movement.

Great that everyone can quickly call this most accomplished astronaut stupid and assume it was a hose, but don't you think that he would be just as aware of things like that with his extensive experience? For all we know there probably IS some yet undiscovered form of life in the upper atmosphere. it would hardly be surprising as we see now spiders can float about with electricity, and life fills every niche. Who spun out those fantasy sci-fi articles speculating about what life on saturn might be like? They made up fantastic ideas about the kind of life form that might live a life floating in the sky, so if it is possible then why not here? I am sure it is advantageous enough being closer to the sun and unhindered by predators that some photosynthetic form would find a way. Would something of that size and altitude ever even be seen otherwise if it existed?

Remember that random falling unidentifiable "space jelly" that is often found? Historically it is purported to be organic space matter and known to happen more often during meteor showers. Do you see what I am getting at here? This guy is convinced there may be exotic life forms up there and honestly his firsthand accounts are more meaningful than the random people that call him names for it and assume they are more aware of what the upper atmosphere ecosystem is like. It is a possibility more than worth checking into.
