Eldorado

Recommended Posts

Legend has it Windsor's magnificent Great Park is haunted by an antlered spirit who rides a horse, torments cattle and even rattles chains.

Stories of Herne the Hunter date back to at least Shakespearian times, and even gets a mention in the great bard's play, The Merry Wives of Windsor.

The tale is that Herne was one of the keepers of the ancient Windsor Forest during the reign of King Richard II between 1377 and 1399.

He was said to be exceptionally knowledgeable about the local woodland and trusted by the King.
