Eldorado Posted April 5, 2021 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2021 China is planning to occupy more "features" in the disputed South China Sea, the Philippines defense minister said on Sunday, as Beijing claims almost the entirety of the resource-rich sea and has asserted its stance by building up small shoals and reefs into military bases with airstrips and port facilities. Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei all have rival claims to the waters, which incorporate strategically crucial shipping lanes and could harbor oil and gas deposits. fred_mc Posted April 5, 2021 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2021 (edited) It's sad to see how the countries with biggest military power just take what they want, and other countries can't do anything. Russia took Crimea and basically seem to think that the whole Black Sea is theirs. I heard the other day that there are big oil and gas resources outside of Lebanon's coast but the Lebanese are not allowed to use it, the Israelis are stopping them. Those are just some examples.
