Humans were apex predators for two million years

April 5, 2021

Quote

[...]  humans were an apex predator for about two million years. Only the extinction of larger animals (megafauna) in various parts of the world, and the decline of animal food sources toward the end of the stone age, led humans to gradually increase the vegetable element in their nutrition, until finally they had no choice but to domesticate both plants and animals—and became farmers.

Humanity has probably reset over the years with every cycle believing it is the first.

I bet someone in the future will say those exact words in 10 million years from now.  ;)

So we should just ignore all the evidence to the contrary and embrace wild hypothesis with no grounding in reality?

When it comes to Science there are no guaranteed facts.  With progress comes wisdom and every generation wipes the slate and starts again from a new angle.  What we commonly accepted as fact a millennia ago is laughed at today, just as our current scientific understanding of the world today will be laughed at in a millennia from now.

I am aware of how science works.

None of these quotes show evidence that humans were around 10 or 50 mya.

Oh BS.

What facts were outright wrong?

Those quotes are trying to tell you that science is a never ending record to learn of. It's adjustable to new evidence as it emerges.

You could have just said you don't understand science and saved a lot of space.

It made sense that early humans ate whatever was seasonal, in abundance, and had the highest nutrient density. When it comes to nutrient density, the combination of fat and protein often wins (dependent on environment, obviously). It's unclear how much plants early humans ate and what conditions may have led them to subsist on them, but it's likely that it was used as filler, when protein and fat were scarce. Things like berries and other fruit were eaten to satisfaction if they came across any

This is all hypothesis, I don't think anyone really knows for sure

And nothing wrong with paleo, it's a far sight better than the way most people eat

Extensive quoting is often a sign someone stopped thinking for her/himself.

Wait, isn't there a special science that says it all started 2000 years ago? Creative mind designs or such?

I wonder where the gigantic trash piles are? If our civilization is any gage, there should be entire strata of trash from past civilizations. Where's the trash?
