@Xeno-Fish   Here is a website that has good news.   https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org

MSN has a page of just good news   https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/good-news

Even Fox has one  https://www.foxnews.com/category/good-news

My favorite today is the man who drove his lawnmower across the state to help Habit for Humanity.

I can only go from my reference point and I know it isn't an absolute. You could say it's an area of cognitive dissonance for me. I know there are good people who do it for the sake of it, yet I have trouble with resolving the motivations behind such act. Basically, I've got trust issues.

I had huge trust issue when I split with my daughters father, still do to a degree something I have worked on slowly over the years.  Did not like how I treated people, especially my current partner due to my trust issues so it was something I needed to work on.

Hi Xeno

I do question some peoples good intent but for the most part grew up in a cold ass country and if I see someone stuck I drive a 4x4 or an all wheel drive only now and when younger would dig and push to get someone out whether they had the money to pay for a tow truck or not. My dad's mom froze to death during a blizzard and I have had sever frost bite twice so for me the safety of others has it's motivation and there are many times others have done the same for me.

As for preferring bad news. I just think our brains are wired for potential threats.

Hi Xeno

To me dwelling on things corrupts my perception, I do not consider myself and optimist nor a pessimist what ever happens happens and I trust me. Most of my international news comes from discussions here and there will always be bad news and most of us are not bad news(disclaimer, it has been shown in some instances that proper bad news deployment is warranted). There are billions of us on this planet and for the most part we get along, every where I go in a city of just under 1.4 million I meet and deal with people of very diverse cultural mix I have had very few confrontations here compared to where I grew up.
