Eldorado Posted April 12, 2021 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2021 China’s cyber regulator is encouraging people to snitch on each other for online speech critical of the ruling Communist Party or its official historical narrative ahead of the 100th anniversary of its founding. Members of the public can ring a new hotline to report people who defame the Party, Chinese leaders, government policies, national heroes or “deny the excellence of advanced socialist culture,” according to a notice posted by the Cyberspace Administration of China. People online “with ulterior motives” were “maliciously distorting, denigrating and negating the history of the Party,” said the regulator, which has vowed to crack down ahead of the Party’s centennial birthday in July. +and-then Posted April 12, 2021 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2021 We'll soon see the same kind of sneaks being encouraged in the U.S. A regular American STASI. Picture it: You're online in a setting like this one and you offend someone with your political statements. They take something you say and "interpret" it and then use their interpretation to send a tip to a handy little spot set up by the Schutzstaffel (FBI) or maybe DHS. In a few days or maybe even a few hours, you hear a knock at the door and "the man" has arrived to have a little chat with you - oh, and to take all your firearms. You can have them back if they don't charge you but you'll have to hire an attorney to go through that process. Meanwhile the vicious POS who set it all in motion is untouchable and anonymous. Just LOVELY, innit? Yeah... it's a brave new world and these fools think Americans are just going to sit still for it.
spartan max2 Posted April 12, 2021 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2021 (edited) This is how communist and totalitarian regimes always operate. Everyone is a spy on each other. If you look at the history of any communist regime it's the same. Soviet Union, Cuba. Non-communist like Nazi Germany. Etc. It's really quite sad. +OverSword Posted April 12, 2021 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2021 In 1984 Big Brother had the children spying on the parents. The parents were terrified of their kids and it made it seem inevitable that at some point the kids would give up at least one of the parents to Big Brother.
