Polar bears mating with grizzlies due to climate crisis

Recommended Posts

Eldorado

Back in 2006, a strange polar bear was seen in the Northwest Territories of the Canadian Arctic. It had patches of brown on its otherwise white fur and an unusual face shape.

Hunters shot the bear dead and DNA tests confirmed what had been suspected: it was the hybrid offspring of a polar bear and a grizzly bear.

In 2010, another hybrid bear was shot by a hunter in the western Canadian Arctic. Tests revealed this animal was a second-generation cross born of a hybrid mother and grizzly father.

A bit racist to suppose their choice in mates is caused by the climate eh? :)

There is no reason to claim this as a result of a so-called "Climate Crisis". You would need evidentiary proof from past centuries to show this has never happened before, and that evidence simply does not exist.

What I read was the ice flows are melting.  The Polar bears have lost hunting ground, so they are heading to New hintkng grounds.   This puts them in closer proximity to other bears.  I am sure there are some rip roaring fights, too, not just mating going on.  So, whether you believe in climate change or not, the climate crisis can be seen with satellite images.  The ice on both poles is melting.

Right on most accounts I think Glory... The Arctic Polar Ice melt would appear to be cyclical (over centuries) and will have no effect (Minimal) on Sea Level rise because it is already floating. There is no evidence that this is affecting seals / Sea Lions (main food source for Polar Bears) but yes, Polar Bear hunting ranges will change. The Greenland Ice sheet and Antarctic land-based Ice sheet will have a very large effect on sea level rise but the world has been through this many times and Flora / Fauna has adapted. We should not be trying to maintain a Biosphere based on the last 500 years, but prepare for inevitable land loss in some areas but land gain in other areas where the ice has receded. The "Climate Crisis", "Climate Emergency" is a Political Issue rather than environmental, because those areas that  gain habitable land may need to be persuaded to allow transfer from endangered land to their newly opened habitable land.
