A shooting was reported at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis late Thursday, police dispatch confirmed.

More details were not immediately available. FedEx did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The address reported by WTHR is near the city's airport.

Unconfirmed reports are 5 deceased. The shooter is thought to have taken his own life. This contains a live link. You can't see much and there's no audio.

Multiple people have been taken to hospitals in the area but no numbers have been released. People with family members who work there are asked to go to a Holiday Inn. Chaplains will be there to assist them.

Here's a better live link with audio. It's ABC Indianapolis. They are waiting for a news conference that should take place soon.

The police chief gave a small statement. She mentioned injuries and multiple victims in the hospital. She also told families who couldn't reach loved ones who worked there to go to the Holiday Inn Express and the Chaplain's Office and others will be there to assist. She mentioned no fatalities.

The news said the shooter was a male and found dead from what they believe was suicide. No other info about him. It is a mass casualty situation.

The police said they will give another conference soon.

I was wrong here. The woman who talked is the Public Information Officer for the Indianapolis Police. She was obviously upset so I don't know how bad this is going to be.

I've been watching NBC livestream on YouTube. The Information Officer just confirmed 8 dead. I'll post this link too. I don't know how long it will be live as she said this will be the last of the conferences at the scene. The gunman makes 9. There were 4 taken to the hospital, 1 with a gunshot wound. One person is in critical condition. Others are walking into hospitals. No real total of how many were possibly injured.

A lot of the live links are going off now but they will work as regular videos now. We'll learn more about the shooter tomorrow after the police do some investigating.

Personally, I just have a gut feeling this was an employee or a disgruntled former employee. The first call went into police at 11:07 which is when 2nd and 3rd shift would be leaving and coming in.

Very sad. Not going to help any pro-gun arguments.

Not sure if these shootings are more common, or if the news is just pressing them more?

Very sad.   I agree that it was probably a disgruntled employee or ex employee.

This just shows a picture of federal agents searching the shooter's home.

It's been determined now that 8 were killed and 5 others were shot, 4 with non life threatening injuries.

Yeah. You're right about that. But then again, serial killers don't help the anti-gun arguments either when most of them kill on a mass scale without a gun. They just take their time about it.

I suspect it has to do with Jan 6th, 2021. That event scared a lot of Dems and maybe a few Repubs. Just imagine if every one of those protesters ran into into the capital with guns. They didn't, but just imagine how things might have went down. I betcha' that is what the the Dems and liberal media have been imagining and worried about, and partly why the gun control issue has gotten top focus now.

CNN is reporting that a relative of the shooter had warned police about this person.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/16/us/indianapolis-shooting-fedex-facility/index.html

It's not clear when the suspect's family member warned authorities, but the outreach was followed up by local authorities and the FBI, according to the three law enforcement sources briefed on the matter.
The FBI opened a preliminary investigation into any possible threat, but it eventually closed the inquiry after concluding there wasn't sufficient evidence to continue it, according to the sources.
A spokeswoman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department declined to comment about CNN's reporting.

I had the local news on for 30 minutes this morning and didn't hear any mention of this.  That's how commonplace I feel shootings are now.  I think the world is full of soulless animals masquerading as humans.

The shooter has been identified as 19 year old Brandon Scott Hole, a former employee. He last worked there in 2020 but no information was given as to how his employment ended. Again, this was committed by a very young person. So many of these shootings are. Even the many shootings in the cities that get only local coverage. I find this disturbing.

His mother had contacted authorities in March of 2020 to tell them her son may attempt suicide by cop. The FBI interviewed him in April of 2020 and a shotgun had been seized from his home. He was placed on a temporary mental health hold.

The identities of the victims have been released.    Four were members of Indianapolis' sikh community, which has a large number of people who work at the FedEx facility.

Yep. Imagine that. That's why a majority of Americans don't believe gun control works. Or at least one of the reasons.

Another article I posted said that rifle was never returned to him. Since he was involuntarily placed into mental health, that should mean he can't legally purchase a gun.

Yeah it's one of the major restrictions under federal gun laws, registration and background checks. You must not have any mental health issues to purchase a gun.

He did legally purchase the 2 weapons he used in the shooting. The first was purchased a few months after police had confiscated the shotgun and put him on a mental health hold.

Authorities believed they had done what they needed to by seizing the pump-action shotgun from Brandon Scott Hole in March 2020, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said.

"Absolutely there needs to be some intervention and absolutely the firearm needs to be taken away. ... But the risk is if we move forward with that (red flag) process and lose, we have to give that firearm back to that person," Mears said. "That’s not something we were willing to do."

The shotgun was never returned to Hole, police have said.

Mears added, "I think this case illustrates the limitations" of the law.

Indianapolis police said Saturday that Hole, 19, legally bought what they described as assault rifles he used in Thursday's attack. The police did not reveal where he bought them, citing the ongoing investigation.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/indianapolis-fedex-shooter-red-flag-hearing

so the local police had his mother complain, took his shotgun away, but were unwilling to take the case to court due to fears that they may lose the case, and would have to give the gun back.   there would be at least 50% chance they would win, not only that  they would have him in the system, and he'd never be able to pass a BC. but they did not, they kept his shotgun,  but he went and bought a new gun, passed his BC, and no red flags appeared.

another gvmnt failure, there is a law to address that, but it was never given a chance to work,  so now they want more laws, smh
