Eldorado Posted April 22, 2021 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2021 (edited) Air ambulances are unable to land at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge after its helipad was destroyed by a military aircraft. It means critically ill patients can't be flown directly to the hospital, but have to be taken to Cambridge City Airport instead. toast Posted April 22, 2021 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2021 It is/was a portable helipad and most likely not certified for Ospreys.

You need to remove the debris first otherwise the air-currents created by landing cause a serious updraft that could easily compromise a smaller copters rotors in the low pressure zone above the blades. It almost impacted the 15 Tonnes Osprey as it was.
