Really saying what the silent majority probably thinks (certainly the older generations).  Nothing really startling at all.  Voicing an opinion without generic PC conformity is healthy.  Imagine a future society with no quotes.  Scary.

Those quotes are not really surprising. The DUP has a conservative agenda.

I can never forgive them for propping up the Tory government.

Yip some in the closet of 41 or so that pick the new leader, feel their problems were for not being hard-line enough on abortion and same-sex marriage.

From what I am hearing and reading these issues are not reasons that 30% of their voters have deserted and in fact a more hardliner may encourage more jumping ship to more centralist parties Ulster Unionists or alliance.

Hopefully they will go for a hardliner, before they realise their run of missteps is continuing.

  1. supporting Brexit pre referendum (misinterpreting the implications for NI)
  2. supporting Brexit post referendum when NI had voted against it
  3. Not supporting May's NI backstop (would have avoided Irish sea border)
  4. trusting Boris Johnson (Many DUP supporters now view him as a traitor)
  5. not realising that sooner or later they will have to deal with constitutional position of NI and a Border Poll (the party's previous leader plus one of the favourites for the leadership have both argued that heads need removed from sand)

A generous description.
