Thanato Posted February 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2005 Here is an quote from the CBC's report on the possibly amounts of money being spent in this years budget. This part is about the Canadian Froces. "Goodale is expected to announce around $13 billion for Canada's cash-strapped military. About one-third of the funding, which will be spread over five years, will be directed towards capital projects and infrastructure for the military, The Canadian Press reported." This will rase the Military budget to over $20 billion. ~Thanato

jenk Posted February 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2005 *grumbles* I think we should spend more money on our budget woes. Toronto just had to sell of a nice chunk of land and raid it's reserves because we are 40 million under budget and also the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) is increasing subway and bus fairs again for lack of funding. Torontos such a cash cow for the rest of Canada. We should be able to keep more of our citys income. We don't need to spend more money on our military right now. If hostile nations begin to threaten us then we should spend more cash on it, Canada is known for amassing a large military force in the time of crisis (at the end of WW2 we had the 3rd largest navy in the world). Thanato Posted February 24, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted February 24, 2005 I agree with you, but the world has changed since WW2. Canada can just sit at the side lines while it trains troops for combate when theres a massive war going on, we need them ready just in case. And the military needed more money, then it had because it was on the verge of collapsing, this budget was just a stop gap solution, they will need to put billions more. ~Thanato
Boff Posted February 24, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2005 sadly.. Apparently it would take almost 10 years to fix what our few past primeminsters have ruined (mainly chretien).
