spartan max2 Posted May 10, 2021 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2021 This is pretty sad. Bombings Outside A School In Afghanistan Kill Over 68 People, Mostly Children Quote On May 8, 2021, explosions outside a school in Kabul, Afghanistan, killed at least 68 people and wounded over 165. The majority of victims are girls attending the Syed Al-Shahda school for girls in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighborhood of Kabul. President Ashraf Ghani suggested the involvement of Taliban insurgents. RoofGardener Posted May 13, 2021 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2021 Au Contrere, @aztek. Once the Taliban have secured complete control, all such terrorist attacks will stop. Because the 'rival' muslim sects will all be abolished, so there won't be any NEED to attack Shia's.

Earl.Of.Trumps Posted June 7, 2021 #6 Share Posted June 7, 2021 (edited) this ---> Quote Most Hazaras are Shiite Muslims. Members of the Hazara minority group are often subjected to attacks because of their religious affiliation. Now, does anyone really think the US presence will stop these lunatics from warring? - because I sure don't. It's been a 20 year total WASTE of Americans and resources. The US never involved itself in choosing between Irish Catholics and Protestants, and does any American regret that? Good Lord! Good Lord! not a total waste, someone has been making money off it. It is a waste of lives and military resources, yes, but that is not what drives war, war is for profit. 2

Tatetopa Posted June 13, 2021 #10 Share Posted June 13, 2021 Looks like China will take an increasingly active role when we leave. https://warontherocks.com/2020/04/chinas-strategic-assessment-of-afghanistan/ Conclusion After two decades of developing ties with both the Afghan government and the Taliban, China has emerged with a special faciliatory role in the peace process. It is pleased to see plans for a U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan yet remains skeptical that Washington will go through with it. At the same time, Beijing is deeply pessimistic about the future of the peace process and a power vacuum left by departing American forces, and is preparing for multilateral engagement down the road to address the issue. China sees its role in Afghanistan beyond the peace deal as cautious and flexible. It sees its role in Afghan security in three ways: as marginal in the sense that it is not a primary party to the conflict; as indispensable in the sense that China is a great power and a neighboring country that cannot be ignored; and as central in the sense that Chinese investment will be critical for the country’s future post-conflict reconstruction and economic development. The Afghan peace process still has a long way to go, and China will not be excluded.
