This is so sad. The victims have been identified. They were all extended family including one of their mothers. So horrific that this occurred in front of children. Thankfully the children were unharmed, at least physically.

This is a very good article from after a news conference held by the authorities. The shooter was jealous and controlling of his girlfriend and tried to stop her from attending family events. There had been an incident with him at another family gathering a week before the shooting. He had not been invited to this one and police think that's why he went and shot the family. Some of the children may have witnessed the shootings. One victim was found alive but died at the hospital. There was no record of domestic calls between the shooter and his girlfriend. He had no previous record at all. The press conference is in this link.

The gun had been purchased in 2014 but not by the shooter. They don't know how he got the gun. It was not reported stolen. Police are investigating.

So your working theory is that crazy people afraid somebody will spot them and take their gun want to get in their shootings before the deadline?
