Entire UK town receives mail 13 years late

A town's residents have been receiving a deluge of mail 13 years late after the post was recovered from a former Royal Mail employee's home following their death.

Letters and parcels, some dating as far back as 2008, have started arriving through people’s letter boxes in Wantage, Oxfordshire.

People across Wantage and the neighbouring village of Grove reported receiving mail in the past few weeks that was originally sent years ago.

The mail included bills, cervical screening and tax reminders, birthday cards with cash inside, as well as video games, DVDs and catalogues.

about the mail delivery it sounds exactly as if the Swedish postal service Post Nord more known as the "post code lottery" was involved....

Wantage is a sleepy town, living in the past. I doubt if anyone will notice.

A lot can happen in 13 years. Receiving mail that was posted so long ago could also include something special. Like a birthday card or a letter from someone close who's since died. To receive something like that out of the blue would be quite a shock but would also make a nice keepsake.
