Saru Posted May 7, 2003 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2003 (IP: Staff) · Speculation is mounting that Saddam Hussein is alive after an Australian newspaper published details of a tape it says may have been made by him just two days ago.The Sydney Morning Herald says the audiotape was handed over to its reporters in Baghdad on Monday. On it, the voice which could be the ousted Iraqi leader says he is still in the country and calls on Iraqis to fight against the US-led invasion. "The Herald played the tape, allegedly recorded two days ago, to an Australian linguistics expert and to more than a dozen Iraqis," the paper said. "The overwhelming opinion was that the voice and rhetoric were very similar, or identical, to Saddam's." In a 15-minute monologue, a tired-sounding voice, interspersed with coughs, tells Iraqis how to "face the invaders and kick them out from Iraq".
