Popular Post Still Waters Posted June 8, 2021 Popular Post #1 Share Posted June 8, 2021 A more reliable way of estimating the size of megalodon shows the extinct shark may have been bigger than previously thought, measuring up to 65 feet, nearly the length of two school buses. Earlier studies had ball-parked the massive predator at about 50 to 60 feet long. The revised estimate is the result of new equations based on the width of megalodon's teeth—and began with a high school lesson that went awry. https://phys.org/news/2021-06-school-lesson-wrong-bigger-megalodon.html 9
Raptor Witness Posted June 10, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2021 Quote Posted January 6, 2019 (edited) 6” Sky Blue Meg. - Lee Creek Site Megalodon disappeared around the time that the Central America land bridge formed, due to volcanism. Central America, was also a nursery for the Meg., as was Florida. It seems possible that what may have happened was a disruption in the migration pattern, which may have affected a great number of ocean species. The larger the body, the less likely of survival in a stressed environment, and this pattern is seen over and over again throughout the fossil record.
